I do, often, crop my pics to enlarge them as the bird or whatever was probably to far away in the first place. Helpful information from you and others, as well! Just not sure I need or want to spend money for 3 different programs but can see an advantage to each from your helpful explanation along with digital Nigels and others. Gigapixel AI is an interesting case as in certain situations the enlargment algorithm has a positive effect in reducing noise and increasing sharpness, which sometimes is more effective, but, and there is always a but, enlarging fuzzy small details thru an AI process involves re-creating information that isn't there in the first place, in other words creating a false reality that some find offensive. Many find that the basic secondary NR or sharpening functions offered in these application is all they need in a majority of cases, but is no replacement for the optimized algorithms provided by each individual applications.
Conversely the noise removal in Sharpen AI aims to reduce noise that is being emphasized by the sharpening process, not high chroma noise. That said, in Denoise AI the sharpening aims to reduce the effect of NR on sharpness, not to deal with motion or focus induced blurr. Decrease noise = less sharp, increase sharpness = more noise one doesn't go without the other hence the apparent duplication of functions. You need to understand the relationship between noise and sharpening.
Not a particularly informative video if you ask me. This video shows how each one has similar features: They don't seem so similar if you actually use them. They all seem so similar it makes me wonder how much they are all the same? If you use Gigapixel, it's best to also use Sharpen AI after it. A tiny number are further processed in DeNoise AI or Gigapixel AI. A small minority are further processex in Sharpen AI. So, every image I shoot is processed in PL4 with DeepPRIME. For me, this would be my priority order if I didn't already have them all: All four of them sharpen and reduce noise in images. I have all three, as well as DxO PL4 with DeepPRIME. If you were to only get one of these, which one would it be and why? Seem to all sharpen the images or, at least, that is the claim.
